Rtnn: Jatiya Party (JaPa) General Secretary Mujibul Haque Chunnu has said that there could be another faction, but the original party will be run under the leadership of GM Quader.

Led by Raushan Ershad, her supporter leaders and activists held a council at the Engineers Institution Auditorium in Dhaka on Saturday.

Following the development, Chunnu claimed that his part of the Jatiya Party is united under the leadership of GM Quader. They are not paying attention to the activities of Raushan and her followers.

He termed Raushan faction’s separate council anti-constitutional.

The rivalry between JaPa's two top leaders Raushan Ershad and GM Quader is very old.

However, Raushan supporters were angry with the top leadership as they were left out of the nomination of compromise with the Awami League in the January 7 elections.

As Raushan Ershad's son Saad Ershad was not nominated in Rangpur, she abstained herself from the election. Due to this new conflict started in JaPa.

Later, Raushan Ershad declared herself the chairman of the party and convened the council.
